Caravan Stupidity

What happens when the caravan is heavier than the car on a hill? This does. Illegal by the way: that car should never be used to tow such a haevy van, so my guess is it was nicked.

Linux / UNIX tools for windows

Some common and usefull tools that are with *nix OS thta would be nice to have on windows. So here they are, I got all of em to work with XP.

Its easier to get to grips with vim in a gui enviroment as well, and with syntax highlighting its a very usefull program.

Stop SPAM text and marketing calls

Regidstering your phone numbers with the Telephone Preference Service means that most telesales outfits will stop calling you. Recently mobile numbers can be registered and its now illegal to send a unsolicited text to a TPS registered number.

Since registering my home number, I have noticed far fewer calls, and the ones I do get tend to get off the phone quickly when I mention TPS :-).

I think everyone in the country should register all their numbers and stop direct marketing scum in their tracks. Just my opinion of course.

TRON Costume anyone?

Slighly worrying glimpse into another world, Jay Maynard has created a TRON Costume. Wouldn't the world be strange if we were all alike?

Sci-fi fans scare me sometimes :-).

Netmask Shennanigans
A very nice calculator for netmasks. Comes in handy when doing IP based restrictions on port forwarding. Smoothwall continues to happily work quietly in the corner.

Smoothwall
Just started using smoothwall as a firewall / router in new place. "mb leased line and a PII 233 box is quite happy to provide firewall, routing, loging, and intrusion detection. Easy to install, polished management interface and its free.
Supports all kinds of stuff including internet connections via most ASDL modems (including USB), ISDN or NICs.
Go take a look at smoothwall if this sounds like what you need.
