Exercise Resources

Spotted a few good places for info on how to perform various weight exercises. The current list is:
EXRX exercise Directory
BodyBuilding.com exercises
Shapefit Exercise info
Mens Health Videos
Worth a look, exrx will tell you all you need to know about which muscles a given exercise hits. The mens health ones are better quality videos though, and the bodybuilding.com videos are good if they have the exercise you are interested in (only the main exercises have videos). There's a few more to come when I dig out my collection of links. This week I have added squats into my routine with dumbbells - no cage or rack yet so its dumbbells to be safe.

Another good week

Down to 15st 10lb now, which is 12lb overall. I was this weight sometime last year!

Still doing 3 workouts a week, with 6 exercises. Next week I add calf raises into the workout so my legs should get some good attention. After this 12 week program I intend to get the bike back out and get back to the shape I was in years ago. Possibly even do some winter series XC races if I feel up to it.

On the equipment side, my bench is getting restrictive - the 35kg on leg extension isn't enough anymore. Maybe I should stop buying electronic gizmos and buy a decent bench.

Lose your love handles

The program I am following is "Lose your love handles" from the Mens Health forum. Its a 12 week challenge laid out by Anthony, the resident personal trainer. I am following the plan laid out for Lanksuk, full body weights 3 times a week and 1800 cals per day, cycling down.

It certainly seems to be working so far - 8lbs in the first 2 weeks. Next milestone is 15 1/2 stone or 36" jeans - whichever comes first.

15 Stone

Now under 16 stone! I now weigh in at 15 stone 13 lb, or 223 lb. Just done my Saturday weights routine and pretty happy with myself. Wonder if the weight will keep coming off this fast, or its just that I was retaining water due to the excess of coke and other stupid stuff I used to have.

Need to post some more info on the plan I am following as well.

Blogger now working on my site

Finally got round to sorting this out. Blogger now publishes itself via ftp to my website. Was actually really easy to make work. Thumbs up to blogger for a good system.

One of the main tricks I have done is to take out all the css from the blogger template, and shift it into a stylesheet on my webspace. There's 4kb of data in there, which would otherwise be replicated across every single post.

Using w.bloggar, I can post from my desktop in a neat little app, rather than via the web interface. Not that the interface is bad, I just like a proper client.

May get round to using Wordpress eventually, but right now this is a solution that works for me and that's good enough.

Weight Loss Blog

This is now the home of my quest to stop being a fat waster. I hit 16 stone 7 lb last week and decided enough was enough.
